Conductor Valerio Galli and director Denis Krief return together at the Teatro del Maggio for Puccini’s Trittico: Il tabarro<\/em>, Suor Angelica<\/em> and Gianni Schicchi<\/em>. Premiered on Dec. 14, 1918 at the Metropolitan in New York to substantial acclaim, the three operas together are a perfect balance of music and dramaturgy: they begin with a story of jealousy that ends in murder and then continue with a family tragedy and, only at the end, are a few laughs wrung out. Although the three works were composed to be a one-act play, nowadays they are often separated to be paired with other similarly themed works or staged individually. <\/p>\n
