SUMMARY:Liederabend | Teatro Lirico Sperimentale (Spoleto)
DESCRIPTION:The Teatro Lirico Sperimentale of Spoleto will offer a Liederabend (Lieder Evening) as part of its season: this is an intimate and intimate performance of vocal chamber music\, during which the audience can (re)discover a poetic and musical world made up of nuances\, whispered expressions and precisely for that reason profound. It is the privileged access to a poetic universe that touches\, with sobriety\, elegance and truth\, the most touching chords of the soul. The Lied is the song of the man who faces a long journey in search of the meaning of existence. Whether he finds it or not is hard to say. But the stages of the long journey are nonetheless milestones of a worthwhile experience. \nDuring the evening many Lieder of the German tradition will be performed\, with uthors like Schubert\, Schumann\, Brahms\, Strauss and other composers who have contributed to the history of this genre. \nThe students of the Course for preparing debut for young opera singers of the Sperimentale will be accompanied on the piano by M° Antonio Vicentini. \nDate event and location\nTuesday\, September 10 | 8:30 p.m.\nPegasus Hall of Spoleto

SUMMARY:Moschetta e Grullo / Eurilla e Beltramme | Teatro Lirico Sperimentale (Spoleto)
DESCRIPTION:Intermezzi of the 18th century\nThe Teatro Lirico Sperimentale\, in collaboration withtheUniversity of Milan – Centro Studi Pergolesi\, will stage as many as two performances dedicated to the Baroque repertoire for the 2024 season.\nThis review has now become a traditional fixture in the theater’s playbill and is dedicated to 18th-century Intermezzi. They are short works between comic and farcical centered on two or three characters\, which were performed in Neapolitan theaters during the intervals between the acts of serious operas. Intermezzi served the function of entertainment for the audience\, which was highly entertained by these small operatic creations\, sometimes showing even greater interest than the main serious melodrama. \nThis year\, the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale will stage two intermezzi by Domenico Sarro\, leading composer of the glorious season of the early 18th-century Neapolitan School\, which played a key role in exporting Italian opera throughout Europe.\nThese interludes are entitled Moschetta and Grullo and Eurilla and Beltramme and were composed by Sarro himself for the interludes of two of his serious melodramas. Moschetta e Grullo is in fact the intermezzo for the opera Siroe re di Persia\, which was first performed at the Teatro San Bartolomeo in Naples in 1727; Eurilla e Beltramme \, on the other hand\, is the intermezzo for La Partenope\, the first performance of which took place in 1722 at the same theater.\nThe production of Moschetta e Grullo is a revival from the 2023 season\, while the staging of Eurilla e Beltramme is a first performance in modern times. \nPerformers\nMoschetta e Grullo \nMusic by Domenico Sarro\nCritical edition by Antonio Dilella and Claudio Toscani \nMoschetta: Chiara Guerra | Aloisia de Nardis\nGrullo: Davide Piva | Marco Gazzini \nMimes: Vania Ficola\, Valentino Pagliei \nEurilla e Beltramme \nMusic by Domenico Sarro\nCritical edition by Benedetta Amelio \nEurilla: Emma Alessi Innocenti | Francesca Lione\nBeltramme: Andrea Ariano | Marco Pierangelo Maria Guarini \nMimes: Vania Ficola\, Valentino Pagliei \nDirection: Pierfrancesco Borrelli\nMoschetta and Grullo direction and scenes: Andrea Stanisci\nEurilla and Beltramme direction and scenes: Laura Cosso\nMoschetta and Grullo costumes: Clelia De Angelis\nEurilla and Beltramme costumes: Clara Restivo\nLights: Eva Bruno \nEnsemble Calamani of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale\nTechnicians of the Experimental Lyric Theater\nHarpsichord: Davor Krkljus \nRepresentations\n6\, 7 September | 8: 30 pm\n8 September | 5:00 pm \nTeatro Caio Melisso\, Spoleto (PG)

SUMMARY:Procedura Penale / La smorfia | Teatro Lirico Sperimentale (Spoleto)
DESCRIPTION:20th-century Opera\nProcedura penale by Luciano Chailly and La smorfia by Bruno Bettinelli are two short comic operas in one act\, conceived as a diptych and thus performed during the first representation at the Teatrino of Villa Olmo in Como\, in 1959. \nFor the first time since the first performance\, they are revived in their original form\, in a new staging curated by the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale of Spoleto. SUMMARY:Aci\, Galatea e Polifemo - G.F. Händel | Teatro Arrigoni\, S. Vito al Tagliamento
DESCRIPTION:The performance of Aci\, Galatea e Polifemo is part of the 2023 playbill of the MusicAntica Festival BAROQUE STORIES Reflections\, incroci\, rivisitazioni\, produced by the BAROCCO EUROPEO Association of Sacile (www.barocco-europeo.org) in collaboration with Epicantica and the Wunderkammer-Trieste Festival. \nAci\, Galatea e Polifemo HWV 72 by G. F. Händel is the opera chosen this year as the project for the LABORATORIO PER L’OPERA BAROCCA\, in order to create a new professional opportunity for young artists. Such Serenata has been revived at the theaters of the Friuli-Venezia-Giulia region.\nIn the roles of the protagonists will be the young winners of the Vocal Competition held precisely for the staging of the performance. The young students of NABA – New Academy of Fine Arts in Milan – have contributed their fresh inventiveness to the realization of the set design\, under the banner of a modern and appealing reading of the Baroque repertoire. Musical support will be provided by the Cenacolo Musicale orchestral ensemble\, under the direction of Riccardo Doni\, a well-known expert in the Baroque repertoire and attentive to the education of new generations. \nAci\, Galatea e Polifemo is a Serenata for three voices for soprano\, alto and bass\, composed by G.F.Händel during his stay in Naples in 1708\, with a libretto by Neapolitan abbot Nicola Giuvo. The work was commissioned by Donna Cecilia Capece\, Princess of Squinzano\, for the wedding of the Duke of Alvito to Beatrice Sanseverino and is intended to sing the praises of marital fidelity.\nStylistically\, the serenade is set in the very particular expressive context of the Academy of Arcadia\, founded in Rome after the death of Christina of Sweden by a circle of literati with the aim of creating a new poetic style in antithesis to the artifices of the seventeenth century and aimed rather at exalting the simple life of shepherds\, in the name of an ideal of classicism and rationalism.\nFrom a vocal point of view\, the opera requires special technical and performance skills and especially tests the voice of the bass\, for whom Händel wrote one of the most difficult and challenging arias in the Baroque repertoire (“Fra l’ombre e gli orrori”)\, the melody of which involves a vocal range of two and a half octaves and unfolds in dizzying leaps. The female voices must also demonstrate particular gifts in coloratura embroidery and expressive intensity\, in a constant search for melodic beauty and ornamental refinements. \nPerformers\nAci – Maddalena De Biasi\nGalatea – Emma Alessi Innocenti\nPolifemo – Yuri Guerra\nMimes – Andrea Maddalozzo\, Leandro Bertolo\, Marta Lucchese \ndirection by Cesare Scarton\nconducting Riccardo Doni\nconception Donatella Busetto \nCenacolo Musicale Orchestra\nTommaso Luison – first violin\nAlessandro Mele\, Massimiliano Tieppo\, Matteo Rozzi\, Ludovica Lanaro\, Elisa Franzini – violins\nAlessia Turri\, Michele Sguotti – violas\nGiancarlo Trimboli\, Cristina Vidoni – cellos\nMauro Zavagno – violone\nDavide Giacuzzo\, Andrea Bracco – trumpets\nGregorio Carraro – oboe/recorder\nFabiano Merlante – theorbo\nDonatella Busetto – organ \nDate event and location\n19th November\, 5:00 pm. | Teatro Arrigoni in San Vito al Tagliamento

SUMMARY:Concert "Sonar di tasti e cantar di musica" | Istituto degli Innocenti (Florence)
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to announce a series of five concerts-two of which will be held at the Galleria dell’Accademia\, the other three at the Istituto degli Innocenti– with the aim of enhancing and promoting the cultural heritage of the two prestigious institutions in Florence’s historic center.\nThe series\, titled ‘Sonar di tasti e cantar di musica\,’ is part of the three-year collaboration agreement signed in March by the Istituto degli Innocenti and the Galleria dell’Accademia. This twinning will include the organization of meetings\, concerts\, exhibitions\, educational activities\, promotional initiatives and other forms of joint planning. \nFive concerts for the cicle ‘Sonar di tasti e cantar di musica’\nThe concert program ‘Sonar di tasti e cantar di musica’ takes its cue from the discovery of how closely the Accademia Gallery and the Istituto degli Innocenti are linked in the name of music. In fact\, hitherto unpublished documents in the Historical Archives of the Innocenti have revealed that in the late Renaissance/early Baroque period\, children received at the Hospital studied and played instruments of the time such as the flute\, trombone\, cornetto and lute. Rare examples of some of these ancient instruments are now kept and displayed at the Accademia Gallery in Florence. From this connection came the idea for the cycle of five concerts\, the first of which will be May 25 at 7 p.m. \nFree guided tours of the collection of instruments on display at the Accademia Gallery will be offered during these events. The tours will be held on the same dates as the concerts\, at 4:30 p.m.\nThe events taking place in the Innocenti spaces will be free admission subject to availability. For information write to office@inyourevent.it \nThe Concert Programme of the 25th May | Istituto degli Innocenti\nEmma Alessi Innocenti (mezzo-soprano) and Patrizio La Placa (baritone) together with I Musici del Gran Principe Ensemble\, will perfom some Cantatas and instrumental pieces of composers like Antonio Vivaldi\, Giovanni Bononcini\, Alessandro Scarlatti\, Agostino Steffani and Arcangelo Corelli\, some of the most representative authors of the Italian Baroque. \nDate event and location\n25th May 2023\, 7:00 pm. | Istituto degli Innocenti\, Women’s courtyard

Archilei \, C. Malvezzi\, V. Galilei\, G. Caccini were among the members of the famous symposium whose intent was to write music different from that composed by Palestrina and Zarlino\, defined as the first practice. This second practice involved a single melody subject to the text\, the focus of the expression of taste and affect\, accompanied by basso continuo; a greater freedom of writing than the strict rules of the first practice. The path continues with Girolamo Frescobaldi who\, at the invitation of Ferdinando II de’ Medici\, moved to Florence in 1630 where he composed Il primo libro delle canzoni a 1-4 voci and the Arie musicali: the expressive musical writing highlights the new practice with even greater intensity. With Claudio Monteverdi the musical journey ends: a key figure of the second practice that consolidated and elevated melodrama and sacred music by making them solemn\, brilliant and eternal. \nDate event and location\n9th September 2022\, 7:30 pm | Murate Art District (MAD)\, Piazza delle Murate\, Florence \n

SUMMARY:"Suor Angelica" | Il Trittico by Giacomo Puccini at Maggio Musicale Fiorentino
DESCRIPTION:Conductor Valerio Galli and director Denis Krief return together at the Teatro del Maggio for Puccini’s Trittico: Il tabarro\, Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi. Premiered on Dec. 14\, 1918 at the Metropolitan in New York to substantial acclaim\, the three operas together are a perfect balance of music and dramaturgy: they begin with a story of jealousy that ends in murder and then continue with a family tragedy and\, only at the end\, are a few laughs wrung out. Although the three works were composed to be a one-act play\, nowadays they are often separated to be paired with other similarly themed works or staged individually. \nNew staging in co-production with Teatro del Giglio in Lucca and Teatro Lirico in Cagliari\nThe performance on 15 November 2019 will be broadcast live on Rai Radio 3 \nArtists\nConcertmaster and Conductor\, Valerio Galli\nStage direction\, scenes and costumes and light designer\, Denis Krief \nIl tabarro\nMichele\, Franco Vassallo\nGiorgetta\, María José Siri\nLuigi\, Angelo Villari\nIl Tinca\, Antonio Garès\nIl Talpa\, Eugenio Di Lieto\nLa Frugola\, Anna Maria Chiuri\nVenditore di canzonette\, Dave Monaco\nAmante\, Costanza Fontana\nAmante\, Claudio Zazzaro\nVoce di sopranino\, Thalida Marina Fogarasi\nVoce di tenorino\, Leonardo Sgroi\nMidinettes: Maria Cristina Bisogni\, Cristina Pagliai\, Sarina Rausa\, Elena Bazzo\, Elisabetta Ermini\, Delia Palmieri \nOrchestra and Choir of Maggio Musicale Fiorentino\nChoir Master Lorenzo Fratini \nSuor Angelica\nSuor Angelica\, María José Siri\nZia Principessa\, Anna Maria Chiuri\nBadessa\, Marina Ogii\nSuor Zelatrice\, Anna Malavasi\nMaestra delle Novizie\, Giada Frasconi\nSuor Genovieffa\, Costanza Fontana\nSuor Dolcina\, Nikoleta Kapetanidou\nSuora Infermiera\, Carmen Buendia\nPrima Cercatrice\, Eunsong Lim\nSeconda Cercatrice\, Francesca Longari\nPrima Novizia\, Marta Pluda\nSeconda Novizia\, Julia Costa\nPrima Conversa\, Marilena Ruta\nSeconda Conversa\, Emma Alessi Innocenti\nSuor Osmina\, Elena Cavini\nThree nuns: Daniela Losi\, Consuelo Cellai\, Amanda Ferri \nOrchestra\, Choir and Children’s Choir of Maggio Musicale Fiorentino\nChoir and Children’s Choir Master Lorenzo Fratini \nGianni Schicchi\nGianni Schicchi\, Bruno de Simone\nLauretta\, Francesca Longari\nZita\, Anna Maria Chiuri\nRinuccio\, Dave Monaco\nGherardo\, Antonio Garés\nNella\, Costanza Fontana\nGherardino\, Matteo Lantieri\nBetto di Signa\, Francesco Venuti\nSimone\, Eugenio di Lieto\nMarco\, Min Kim\nLa Ciesca\, Giada Frasconi\nMaestro Spinelloccio/Ser Amantio\, Enrico Marabelli\nGuccio\, Adam Jon\nPinellino\, Shuxin Li \nOrchestra of Maggio Musicale Fiorentino
