The Oratorio San Filippo Neri, composed in Rome in 1705, is a masterpiece by Alessandro Scarlatti with a libretto by Pietro Ottoboni. This emblematic Baroque composition reflects Scarlatti’s extraordinary talent for blending vocal intensity with refined orchestration, engaging in an open artistic dialogue with the great European masters of his era. The four soloists embody powerful Christian allegorical characters: Roberto Manuel Zangari gives voice to St. Philip, Maddalena de Biasi interprets Charity, Zoreslava Vynnyk lends her alto voice to Faith and Emma Alessi Innocenti takes on the role of Hope. The Naples Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Enzo Amato, accompanies the theatrical and spiritual expressions of this work, which embodies the Neapolitan musical tradition and its European influence.
This concert invites audiences to immerse themselves in a reimagined early 18th-century atmosphere, celebrating Alessandro Scarlatti as a pivotal figure in Baroque music and as a bridge between European artistic cultures.
