On July 3 and 4, role auditions were held in Vicenza for the opera L’Olimpiade by Antonio Vivaldi, an opera studio project intended for young opera singers, organized by the Vicenza in Lirica Festival and the Concetto Armonico Association.
More than 90 artists from all over the world participated in the live selection process.
The examining board, composed of Sara Mingardo (contralto), Francesco Erle (maestro conductor and concertmaster of the opera) and Andrea Castello (artistic director of the Vicenza in Lirica festival ), finally decreed seven winners, who will star in the Vivaldi production that will be staged on Sept. 5 and 8 at the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza.
They are:
- Emma Alessi Innocenti (mezzo-soprano) – Megacle
- Daniela Salvo (alto) – Aristea
- Sandro Rossi (countertenor) – Licida
- Francesca Lione (mezzo-soprano) – Argene
- Maddalena De Biasi (soprano) – Aminta
- Patrizio La Placa (baritone) – Clistene
- Elcin Huseynov (bass) – Alcandro
Winners will be offered the opportunity to participate free of charge in the Advanced and Debut Opera Course, which will be held from August 20 to September 5, 2020, including a Masterclass on the art of recitative held by Maestro Sara Mingardo. Other artists will also be awarded a scholarship to support expenses during their stay in Vicenza.
